Goodbye Eunji and Stefan

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

This past week we celebrated two of our assistants who left the community.  Eunji came as a volunteer in January from South Korea – she was helping at Coveant house and made strong connections with many people in the community.  Stefan from Germany also came to us in January as a volunteer.  He has been great to jump in where ever he is needed pretty much in every house and program in the community!  We thank you both for your time, friendship and commitment.  It has been wonderful to get to know you both and hope we stay connected!

With the Blueberry at Oxford!

With the Blueberry at Oxford!

A group of us (Tom G, Carol Anne, Matthew, Heather, Natalie, Shema and Lindsey) took a 4 day trip to New Brunswick last week to see some old friends.  We visited with L’Arche St John and to see Jocelyn in her new community!  It was a great visit and we loved connecting with the house and making new friends.  It was fun to see Jocelyn in her new role and to see her new home.

From St John we did the long, long drive upto Dalhousie to see Stacey (former assistant), Mark and thier new addition Olivia.  It was a delight to meet Olivia and she was so good being passed between all of us!  We ended our trip with an overnight visit to see Andrea and Thomas, we had pizza and watched a movie.  It was great to see some of our friends and keep the connections going – we hope to do another trip in the fall.

The long term assistants in the Atlantic region gathered for a 2 day retreat in Tatamagouche. It was animated by Fr. Ray, with his gentle teachings, his rich experiences and the gospel gave us a reflection on the sign posts on the spiritual path.  It was a great time for making new friends, sharing time with old friends and making deeper connections within the community.

L’Arche Cape Breton Video to Watch

Monday, June 1st, 2009

This past weekend L’Arche Cape Breton had thier first “Springfest”, a fundrasier for the community.  It was a dinner theatre idea and members of L’Arche Cape Breton provided the entertainment.  It was a great evening, and the grand finale was a video presentation of some of their core people.
