Our Day Programs
|
As a L'Arche community our mission challenges us to not only create homes but equally appropriate are day activities and vocational opportunities which support and encourage the members at L'Arche to develop skills and greater inclusion into our Antigonish society.
Today, we have developed two distinct day time programs. Cornerstone, which operates on a Monday through Friday basis, creates a welcoming and nurturing environment for our senior members who have retired from their work programs and are still active.
This program is often referred to as the 'hidden part' of our community and reminds us all of the importance of relationships and being present to one another. The folks at Cornerstone help us to celebrate daily life in a spirit of gratitude and teach us the richness of living this stage of life well.
Horizons is our vocational day program which develops individualized activities and integrated job opportunities within the Antigonish business community. This program also allows us to welcome those young adults still living with family members and requiring a vocational setting. Through these varied and diverse integrated activities, the larger public and student volunteers, learn about disability issues and the rewards of employing those with differing abilities.
