Welcome to L'Arche Antigonish
Thank you for your interest in L'Arche Antigonish!
L'Arche is an international federation of communities founded by Jean Vanier where men and women with developmental disabilities, and those who choose to share life with them, live and work together. Situated in the small university town of Antigonish, Nova Scotia, L'Arche Antigonish has been operating since 1979.

Today, our community is home to 13 people with developmental disabilities, living in 3 homes and 1 apartment. Our homes, day programs and summer camp offer a variety of learning experiences and foster a spirit of cooperation and a discovery of each others uniqueness. L'Arche Antigonish is closely connected with St. Francis Xavier University. Each year, over 60 university student volunteers participate in various programs.

How You Can Help?

Learn how you can support our programs, volunteer, or make a financial contribution. Volunteers are most welcome: for building relationships, offering transportation, or supporting events and activities. Any help you might offer will be greatly appreciated!

Work as a L'Arche Assistant

As part of the philosophy of L'Arche, the front line staff consist of live-in and live-out caregivers. Caregivers or "assistants" are encouraged to live in a home with people with disabilities and to share life with the same dignity and the same rights.
